Adult Usher Ministry: Serves as greeting ambassadors for the church, serving during each worship service, special programs and funerals.They welcome, direct and seat members and visitors while providing them with bulletins and other literature.
Christian Education Ministry: This ministry includes Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Youth Department, Confirmation for youth 12-16 years, Acolytes and Children’s church. The job of the Chairperson is to develop planning and programming that ensures that there is a Christian education component in each of these areas.
Diaconate Ministry: The Diaconate Ministry is composed of eight ordained deacons. The main responsibilities of the Diaconate Ministry is to serve both the spiritual and practical needs of the congregation, willingly and without recompense. Deacons at New Covenant United Church of Christ serve under the leadership and spiritual direction of Pastor Jacquelyn Ross Brown and assist her in performing duties in specific worship services. The Diaconate Ministry sponsors the following annual worship services: Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Octogenarian/ Nonagenarian Recognition, Convocation Sunday, Thanksgiving Baskets for needy families, Libation Service, and Freedom Night Service.
God’s Jewels: The ministry is composed of women 20-45 years of age. Their purpose is to support each other to strengthen their walk with God, reach out to others that are not members of New Covenant. They endeavor to minister, to primarily women, most importantly to support and nurture each other through encouragement, outreach, and by presentation of substantive workshops. The theme scripture is taken from the Message Bible, Proverbs 11:25, “The one who blesses others is abundantly blesses; those who help others are blessed.”
Media Ministry: This ministry is responsible for recording each worship service was well as special programs. They maintain an organized library of CD’s and ensures that there are CD’s for homebound members each 1st Sunday. They are responsible for the sale of CD’s following the morning service.
Men’s Fellowship Ministry: A Christian Brotherhood that builds up and helps the men become Christian Leaders. This ministry provides an avenue of outreach to those men in the church as well as those who gather on the 3rd Saturday of each month (September thru May). They are also responsible for planning and facilitating the annual Men’s Day Program.
Resource Ministry: This ministry is responsible for providing resource materials regarding church and community resources which may provide therapeutic counseling, housing, assistance with applying for funding sources, food pantries, and other needs that families may have.This ministry oversees additional ministries:
- Trustee Ministry: This ministry is responsible for the fiscal management of the church, which includes weekly counting and banking, establishing an annual budget, and ensuring budget compliance via established oversight measures. The ministry is also responsible for all financial church business (contracts, Insurance for building and vehicle, building and grounds upkeep, and equipment owed and leased). It is the responsibility of the Trustee Ministry to promote ongoing stewardship planning and presentation to the congregation. This ministry oversees:
Women’s Fellowship: A sisterhood of women who meet monthly for fellowship and sincere connecting with each other and with Jesus. The group invites a monthly speaker that provides encouraging and uplifting information swell Christian enlightenment. The Women’s Ministry sponsors an annual Women’s Day Program.
